We appeal to drivers to PLEASE avoid lanes connecting the A38 to the A371 to safeguard the future of the WINSCOMBE HILL toad population which is now VULNERABLE TO EXTINCTION in spite of the efforts of the volunteer patrollers.

Warning Signs will be in place by mid-February until the end of March

On 13th January WTP volunteers agreed with the North Somerset Council (Highways Department) proposal to use warning signs rather than a diversion as it is likely to be more effective (see below).

On the 28th November 2022, Winscombe and Sandford Parish Council supported the WTP proposal for a temporary diversion on Winscombe Hill and Barton Road.

WTP volunteers collected over1200 local signatures on a petition to close the roads from dusk to dawn in February and March.
